FEMA Hazard Mitigation Assistance and The Nature Conservancy will bring you some ideas of how to build a grant application in the Nature Based Solutions (NBS)-Green Infrastructure arena. Billions of dollars have become available to mitigate the changing risks associated with climate change, and NBS may be a solution your community can use. It is the intent of FEMA Region 5 to share ideas and back them up later with workshops, and trainings to help communities become more resilient to the damages and hardship of disasters.
This is an exciting time for hazard mitigation and a great opportunity for communities to prepare for increasing heat, extreme rainfall with flooding and wildfires. Mitigating infrastructure, buildings, and natural areas will be key to adapting to the climate changes of the future, and FEMA’s Hazard Mitigation Assistance grant programs may be a resource to accomplish that.
