Fiscal Year 2020 Notices of Funding Opportunities for Hazard Mitigation Assistance Grants

The fiscal year 2020 (FY 2020)application period for the Hazard Mitigation Assistance (HMA) Notices of Funding Opportunities (NOFOs) for the Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA) grant program and the new Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) pre-disaster mitigation grant programs opened on Sept. 30, 2020, and closed at 3 p.m. on Jan. 29, 2021.

FEMA’s two competitive mitigation grant programs provide states, local communities, tribes and territories (SLTTs) funding for eligible mitigation activities to strengthen our nation’s ability to build a culture of preparedness by reducing disaster losses and protecting life and property from future disaster damages.

The FY2020 FMA and BRIC NOFOs can be accessed at Grants.gov or here on fema.gov.

Application Funding and Deadlines

For fiscal year 2020 there was $700 million available for the FMA and BRIC programs combined. $200 million was for FMA and $500 million was for BRIC.

The application period opened on Sept. 30, 2020 and closed at 3 p.m. on Jan. 29, 2021. Eligible applicants applied using the new FEMA Grants Outcome (FEMA GO), which is now the grant management system for FMA and BRIC.
