SUBJECT:                            Welcome Aboard

Please join me in welcoming James (Jim) Smith to his new position as the Superintendent for the Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) located in Anniston, AL. The CDP offers more than 50 courses for emergency response providers, healthcare professionals, emergency managers, and other government officials.

Mr. Smith returns to Federal Service from Fort Scott, Kansas, after transforming a private manufacturing company to profitability. His prior Federal Service as a civilian includes experience as the Chief of the Operations Center for the U. S. Army’s Installation Management Command. In 2009, he oversaw the Army’s new Division - Protection, Emergency Management & Surety. In this role he implemented the Army’s “All-Hazards” focused Emergency Management Program and its Surety Program for Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear missions & operations.

Prior to retiring from the U.S. Army in 2002 at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, Mr. Smith served as the Commander / Director, Chemical Defense Training Facility at Fort Leonard Wood.
