FEMA Region VI employees are celebrating National Preparedness Month right along with the emergency management and preparedness partners they serve in Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.

On Thursday, Sept. 12, employees took part in creative preparedness/safety activities in conjunction with NPM.

The “Celebrate Heroes & Unsung Heroes” Region VI employee event featured preparedness demonstrations and team competitions on fire safety, first aid, safe carries and utility shut off procedures.

Those participating in the team competitions won prizes like fire extinguishers, first aid kits, walkie-talkies, a weather radio, and emergency lights. The event was sponsored by the FEMA R6 Employees Association.

Region VI employees are working closely with all of their stakeholders in the five of the region’s states to promote NPM and this year’s theme – You can be the Hero!
