WASHINGTON—FEMA Administrator Pete Gaynor approved California for a FEMA grant under the Lost Wages Assistance program.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and Wisconsin Emergency Management (WEM) announced today that $23,800,232.83 in federal funding has been made available to the Wisconsin Department of Administration (DOA) for costs related to the state’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic under the federal disaster declaration of April 4, 2020.

FEMA has provided over $2.3 billion to more than 351,000 people to assist with COVID-19-related funeral costs for deaths occurring on or after Jan. 20, 2020. This assistance helped pay for the funerals of more than 369,000 people who died from COVID-19.
