FEMA posted a final public notice on its website describing the programmatic review of proposed repair and reconstruction actions related to roads, culverts and bridges. The programmatic review is in accordance with procedures set forth in Executive Orders 11988 and 11990 on floodplain management and the protection of wetlands. This public notice includes activities that may affect various territorial, municipal, and local transportation agencies in all 78 municipalities of Puerto Rico

Within the Public Assistance Program, FEMA has completed more than 851 site inspections throughout Puerto Rico, advancing the island's recovery from Hurricane Fiona. This amount represents nearly 1,625 facilities and infrastructure items that applicants reported were damaged by the disaster.

FEMA disaster assistance is not a taxable income and has no impact on Social Security, Medicaid, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance or other federal program payments or benefits. Therefore, residents of Puerto Rico, who applied for federal disaster assistance following Hurricane Fiona, should not be concerned that FEMA assistance may affect other federal benefits to which they are entitled.

In the six months since the Sept. 21 disaster declaration for Hurricane Fiona, more than $864.7 million in federal funds have been distributed to support the recovery of survivors and infrastructure on the island. The collaboration between FEMA, the Government of Puerto Rico, the municipalities, and local and federal partners remains strong which has been key to identifying and fulfilling disaster related needs.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Public Assistance (PA) Program supports State, Local, Tribal, and Territorial (SLTT) governments, and certain types of private nonprofit (PNP) organizations. Through this program, FEMA provides supplemental grant assistance for debris removal, emergency protective measures, and the restoration of disaster-damaged, publicly owned facilities and specific facilities of certain Private Non-Profit organizations. It also encourages protection from future incident with cost-effective mitigation measures for disaster-damaged facilities.
