SAIPAN, MP — Disaster recovery officials urge recipients of federal grants to use the money wisely. Federal officials are cautioning residents of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands who have received disaster assistance from FEMA to use the money for its intended purpose and to keep disaster spending receipts for three years.

SAIPAN, MP — Disaster assistance information is still available for survivors who suffered damages and property loss due to Typhoon Mangkhut and Typhoon Yutu. Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) continue to provide assistance at the Multi-Purpose Center on Beach Road in Susupe. The hours of operation of the Disaster Loan Outreach Center (DLOC) are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. The DLOC is closed on Sundays and Mondays.

SAIPAN, MP — Workers and the self-employed whose jobs were impacted by Typhoon Mangkhut and Super Typhoon Yutu have until February 14 to apply for Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA). A worker is required to file for regular unemployment, but, if they are not eligible, they may be considered for DUA. DUA may assist self-employed individuals as well as those with conventional jobs on a case by case basis.

SAIPAN, MP – Residents of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands have one week left to register for federal disaster assistance for damage from Typhoon Mangkhut and Super Typhoon Yutu.The deadline to register with FEMA is Jan. 27, 2019.A FEMA registration has a nine-digit number. If you do not have the nine-digit number, you are not registered for federal assistance.

SAIPAN, MP- On Friday, November 16, 2018, at 9:00 a.m., the Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) on Saipan will open in a new location. The DRC will open at the Multi-Purpose Center off Tekken Street in Susupe. The hours of operation at the new location will be from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. All DRCs on Tinian, Saipan, and Rota will be closed on Sundays.

SAIPAN, MP — The Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) in Saipan will be closed on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 for the election. The DRC will reopen for normal hours of operation from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on November 14 and November 15, 2018. On November 16, 2018, the DRC will relocate to the Multi-Purpose Center off of Tekken Street in Susupe.

The CNMI Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Management (HSEM) has identified permanent sites for Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) on the islands of Rota, Saipan and Tinian. Beginning Thursday, October 11, 2018, the following sites will be open to allow homeowners, renters and business owners impacted by Typhoon Mangkhut to register for Disaster Assistance.
