March 6, 2007 - News Release

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Everyone in Florida lives in a flood zone; they just don't know it. Or, perhaps, they think a low-risk area is a no-risk area. However, for those who live in a low- to moderate-risk area, outside of the 100-year floodplain, signing up for an inexpensive Preferred Risk Policy under the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) is a wise precaution. Flood damage is not covered under homeowner's insurance, and there is no guarantee that federal disaster assistance will be available if and when a flood occurs.
