ALBANY, N.Y. -- Only a couple of days remain for individuals and business owners in the six New York counties designated for individual assistance to call and apply for state and federal aid to replace losses from the severe storms and floods that ravaged the region last September 16-24. The deadline to call and apply for disaster assistance is January 15, 2005. The eligible counties are Broome, Chenango, Delaware, Orange, Sullivan, and Ulster.

ALBANY, N.Y. -- New Yorkers in the six disaster-designated counties (Broome, Chenango, Delaware, Orange, Sullivan, and Ulster) who sustained damage or losses from Tropical Depression Ivan (Sept. 16 – 24) have just a few days left to apply for state and federal disaster assistance.

November 18, 2004 - News Release

ALBANY, N.Y. -- The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management (FEMA) and the New York State Emergency Management Office (SEMO) announce the opening of a Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) to assist those who suffered losses and damages as a direct result of the severe storms that occurred Aug. 13- Sept. 16. Starting Friday, November 18, the DRC will be open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week, except Thanksgiving Day, at the following location: Town Hall 420 Rt. 209 Huguenot, NY 12746

Public Assistance - Dollars Approved

Public Assistance (PA): Disaster grant assistance available for communities to quickly respond to and recover from major disasters or emergencies declared by the President

Emergency Work (Categories A-B): Work that must be performed to reduce or eliminate an immediate threat to life, protect public health and safety, and to protect improved property that is significantly threatened due to disasters or emergencies declared by the President

Permanent Work (Categories C-G): Work that is required to restore a damaged facility, through repair or restoration, to its pre-disaster design, function, and capacity in accordance with applicable codes and standards
