Tallahassee, FL -- Federal grants and loans exceeding $1.2 million have been approved and are in the process of being disbursed to victims of Tropical Storm Allison flooding that resulted in a major disaster declaration for five north Florida counties June 17.
Tallahassee, FL, June 29, 2001 -- Federal, state, local and voluntary agencies have been working in partnership to help north Florida residents following the recent flooding that followed in the wake of Tropical Storm Allison. Tallahassee, FL -- Disaster assistance has been expanded to include aid for three North Florida governments affected by the recent flooding caused by remnants of Tropical Storm Allison in Florida, the head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced today. This brings to nine the number of counties to receive some kind of assistance following the torrential rains of June 11 - 15.

Public Assistance (PA): Disaster grant assistance available for communities to quickly respond to and recover from major disasters or emergencies declared by the President
Emergency Work (Categories A-B): Work that must be performed to reduce or eliminate an immediate threat to life, protect public health and safety, and to protect improved property that is significantly threatened due to disasters or emergencies declared by the President
Permanent Work (Categories C-G): Work that is required to restore a damaged facility, through repair or restoration, to its pre-disaster design, function, and capacity in accordance with applicable codes and standards
