Potosi, Wisconsin: $2.89 million

Project Description

Potosi Village, with 688 residents, faces significant risks from tornadoes and severe weather events. The Potosi School District Community Safe Room Project aims to protect 886 occupants by constructing a concrete tornado safe room at the school. The safe room will meet the FEMA publication standards, P-361, Safe Rooms for Tornadoes and Hurricanes, Fourth Edition. It will provide a minimum of two hours of protection and incorporate nature-based solutions, such as rainwater harvesting, to improve local flood conditions. The project also includes building a gymnasium addition with reinforced steel construction and precast wall panels designed for tornadic events.
