St. Augustine will elevate 50 flood-prone structures.
St. Augustine, Florida: $7.61 million
Project Description
The city of St. Augustine proposes to elevate 50 flood-prone structures which has resulted in 65 repetitive and severe repetitive loss claims among these properties. The structures will be raised a minimum of two feet above the Base Flood Elevation (BFE), or above the highest-known flood level, whichever is higher. Construction activities will include tunneling beneath the structures to allow for elevating the home using elevation methods.
Once the structures have been elevated two feet above the BFE or more, temporary cribbing will be placed under the structure to maintain it and the cribbing will be replaced with piles or pilings as per design standards. This proposal includes building and site preparation, as well as the disconnection of utilities and the construction of appropriate ways to enter and exit the elevated living spaces.
