Defense Production Act Division

The Defense Production Act (DPA) Division is responsible for supporting the DPA authorities and functions of the FEMA Administrator and Associate Administrator, Office of Policy and Program Analysis (OPPA). This support focuses on promoting effective use of DPA authorities by FEMA and other Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Components and providing coordination and guidance for the DPA plans and programs of other federal departments and agencies.

We provide the staff support for the Administrator’s three-fold DPA mission to provide:

  1. Government-wide guidance and coordination for effective use of DPA authorities in support of national defense
  2. DHS-wide direction and guidance for effective DHS use of DPA authorities in support of homeland security programs
  3. Direction and guidance for effective use of DPA authorities in support of FEMA programs.

The Defense Production Act (DPA) is a U.S. law that grants the President powers to ensure the nation's defense by expanding and expediting the supply of materials and services from the domestic industrial base.
