FEMA values diversity, equity, unique experience, and abilities that employees bring to the agency and the people we serve.

COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement
Last updated January 20, 2022
To ensure compliance with an applicable preliminary nationwide injunction, which may be supplemented, modified, or vacated, depending on the course of ongoing litigation, the Federal Government will take no action to implement or enforce the COVID-19 vaccination requirement pursuant to Executive Order 14043 on Requiring Coronavirus Disease 2019 Vaccination for Federal Employees.
- To the extent a Federal job announcement includes the requirement that applicants must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 pursuant to E.O. 14043, that requirement does not currently apply.
- Federal agencies may request information regarding the vaccination status of selected applicants for the purposes of implementing other workplace safety protocols, such as protocols related to masking, physical distancing, testing, travel, and quarantine.

Employment and Reemployment Protections for Reservists
On Sept. 29, 2022, President Biden signed into law the Civilian Reservist Emergency Workforce Act.
This act amends the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act as well as the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA) to provide FEMA reservists the same protections that military reservists, national guard members, national disaster medical service, and urban search and rescue system members enjoy, including reemployment rights for their non-FEMA day job.
The federal government offers hiring paths to help hire individuals that represent our diverse society.
