When a community applies for FEMA funding — such as Public Assistance, Hazard Mitigation Assistance or Preparedness Grants — potential impacts to the environment and cultural resources must be considered.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Indiana Department of Homeland Security (IDHS) announced today that $2,078,289 in federal funding has been made available to Franciscan Alliance, Inc. for costs related to the state’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic under the federal disaster declaration of April 3, 2020.

Through the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP), the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has released an initial $2,363,580 to the city of St. Cloud, Minnesota, for a ravine stabilization project.

Beginning July 8, the Michigan State Police, Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division (MSP/EMHSD), FEMA, U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and local officials in Wayne County will be conducting joint preliminary damage assessments due to the flooding that occurred in late June. These assessments are the result of the state’s June 30 request, and is one of the initial steps in the federal disaster declaration process. Other counties may be added to the assessments as identified and requested by the state.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) announced today that $1,755,345 in Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA) funds has been awarded to the village of Machesney Park, Ill., for the acquisition of 17 flood-prone homes in the floodplain of the Rock River in Winnebago County.
