At the Providence, R.I., Joint Field Office, Nick Russo, Federal Coordinating Officer, and Tim Barnett, Public Assistance Branch Director, welcomed twelve FEMA Corps members who were deployed to the Rhode Island JFO at the end of March. The corps members are receiving on-the-job training in environmental and historic preservation, external affairs, planning, logistics, disability integration, mitigation and public assistance.
Along with most of the other New England-deployed staff, they are now based at the JFO in Portsmouth, N.H. Prior to this deployment, the group had two weeks of training in Anniston, Ala. They were then deployed to New Jersey where they worked in various areas.
