New Orleans, La., Sep. 9, 2013 -- Plaquemines Parish School Board held a ribbon cutting ceremony of the new South Plaquemines High School, built with $40.3 million in FEMA funding. Plaquemines Parish School Board, in their effort to recover and rebuild the school system following Hurricane Katrina, opted to combine FEMA funding from the destroyed Buras Main High School Building and Elementary School Wing, and the Port Sulphur Science Building at Port Sulphur Elementary School, into a new South Plaquemines Parish High School facility.
