New York National Guard Assists in Hurricane Sandy Recovery

New York City, N.Y., Jan. 2, 2013 -- Over 30 members of the New York National Guard walked door-to-door in New York to assist the survivors of Hurricane Sandy. National Guardsmen Specialist Jones of the HSC642-ASB unit, and Specialist Pimiental, Bravo Company 642 AB, took part in Operation "Task Force Sandy" by walking along Pioneer Street in the Red Hook area of Brooklyn. Members of their unit are working in the area completing “wellness checks,” to see if citizens have electricity and heat. Resident with electricity but no heat, are provided a portable heater.
