Environmental Assessment for St. Bernard II Multi-Family Housing Project, City of Metairie, Jefferson Parish, Louisiana (August 2011)

Main Content
The proposed action to construct the St. Bernard II Multi-family Housing Project, an 82-living units, 54,687-square foot federally subsidized apartment building located at 2300 Archbishop Hannan Boulevard in Mereaux, St. Bernard Township, for low income and disabled residents, to be located at the Metairie Manor affordable housing project on a currently vacant lot at the corner of Transcontinental Drive and York Street in Metarie, Jefferson Parish. The St. Bernard II facility sustained significant damage from Hurricane Katrina including flooding and other storm damage. Christopher Homes, Inc. has elected to relocate this facility to Jefferson Parish to the existing Metairie Manor facility. In accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and FEMA’s regulations for implementing NEPA at 44 CFR Part 10, an Environmental Assessment has been prepared to evaluate the potential impacts of the proposed project on the environment.
