Hoffinan ES-Building F/ PW#10467/ FIPS#103-UH9IO-OO Project Location: 2622 S. Prieur St., New Orleans, LA 70125, Orleans Parish Latitude: 29.94452, Longitude: -90.09535 Project Description: Heavy rains and high winds from Hurricane Katrina (DR-1603) caused significant exterior and interior damage to John W. Hoffinan ES-Building F. Cumulative repair work to the building includes removaVreplacement ofpIexiglass windows, asphalt shingles, wood fiber ceiling tiles, fluorescent lights, asbestos floor tiles, exterior paneling, metal floor bolts, wood doors, cabinets/countertops, china sinks, chalkboards, toilets/urinals, mirrors, circuit breaker, speaker systems, and wiring. Hazard mitigation has been proposed for John W. Hoffinan ES-Building F at 2622 S. Prieur St., New Orleans, LA. The described classroom building had all of its exterior through-the-wall air conditioning units destroyed due to 3' high flooding from Hurricane Katrina. All three units are recommended to be elevated above the exterior canopy, 8' above the Finished Floor Elevation (FFE). Nearly identical units can be used and attached through the existing windows, however minor modifications (ie interface between windows and unit) along with a support system are necessary. Closure of the wall system where the unit was initially would also commence. All work will be performed in a previously disturbed area with no indication of nearby waterways or other bodies of water.
