Fact Sheet HURRICANE RITA FUNDING STATUS, CAMERON PARISH Public Assistance Funding for Cameron Parish and State Payout, Sept. 18, 2007 Total federal funds obligated: $116.9 million Some of this public assistance funding went into the following Cameron Parish projects: * Johnson Bayou High School – Approximately $4 million funded repairs to this K-12 school, which is currently open to students. * Cameron Parish Waterworks – FEMA funding of $225,000 has been obligated for the replacement of a waterworks shop building in Hackberry. * Cameron Parish District Attorney’s Office – More than $103,000 has been funded to repair the building, which resumed normal operations earlier this year. (MORE) Hazard Mitigation Funding for Cameron Parish, Sept. 18, 2007 * To date, FEMA has received no applications for projects in Cameron Parish. Individual Assistance Funding for Cameron Parish, Sept. 18, 2007 Total Individual Assistance funding: $38 million Active Leases in Cameron Parish by Site Type * 4,234 Cameron Parish residents have been provided with rental assistance. * Residents have received a total of $14.9 million in Other Needs Assistance, which may include money for personal property, vehicle replacement, funeral, medical and dental assistance. * There are currently 757 households living in FEMA direct housing who were Cameron Parish residents prior to the hurricanes.
