Disaster Contracting Industry Day The Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Louisiana Recovery Office and Dillard University’s Community Development Corporation will host a Disaster Contracting Industry Day in New Orleans on Friday, Oct. 28, 2011, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will take place on Dillard University’s campus—2601 Gentilly Boulevard—inside their Professional Schools and Sciences Building’s Georges Auditorium. The purpose of Industry Day is to provide local businesses with information about future disaster contracting requirements and to gain industry insight regarding best practices and standards to assist with requirements development. Key FEMA personnel will be on hand to explain FEMA’s role during a disaster, the type of contracts needed to support FEMA’s mission and to answer questions. Additionally, in order to support and further foster successful business participation, an educational seminar on how to respond to notices for federal opportunities will be conducted. Industry Day is free and open to all interested businesses, although Louisiana businesses are especially encouraged to attend since requirements resulting in contracts or blanket purchase agreements will be awarded to businesses residing or primarily doing business in the state of Louisiana.
