Approximately $4.8 million to The St. Bernard Parish Civic Center to help repair the facility. . Over $8.2 million to St. Bernard Parish for street repairs of non-federal parish streets, curbs and sidewalks. . Over $1.4 million to Riverbend Oxidation Pond to assist in the removal, dewatering and transport of sewage waste from this facility. . Over $330.4 million to Facilities Planning and Control for permanent facility replacement of Charity Hospital. . Over $29.6 million to Facilities Planning and Control for building repairs to the Louisiana State University (LSU) Clinical Sciences Building. . Over $4.3 million to Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Office for Management Costs to Braithwaite Detention Center. . Approximately $4.8 million to The St. Bernard Parish Civic Center to help repair the facility. . Over $8.3 million in Public Assistance dollars to Desire Street Ministries for permanent facility replacement of the multi-purpose building. Housing Update Currently, 620 households occupy temporary housing units provided following hurricanes Katrina and Rita. 214 households occupy units provided following hurricanes Gustav and Ike. Louisiana Recovery Office New Orleans, LA September 25 to October 1, 2010 FEMA NEWS DESK (504) 762-2477 Calendar FEMA and the Governor's Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Preparedness recently announced more than $6.7 million in mitigation funding for the City of Slidell’s storm water drainage project, and to improve pump stations. The improved drainage and pump systems will protect Slidell residential and business structures from flooding, and as a result of this project, Slidell's water drainage system will ultimately be improved to alleviate flooding throughout the city. The drainage canals affected include: City Barn, W-15 Lateral, Eastwood Storm Drain Line and Markham/Peachtree Drainage. The first phase should be completed in approximately one year. “Slidell will be much better protected as a result of the fund-ing,“ said Mark Karl, of FEMA’s Louisiana Recovery Office Interim Director. The funding will also go toward improving two of the city’s drainage pump stations, City Barn and Schneider Drainage. Improvements to these pump stations should be completed in approxi-mately three years.
