Louisiana Recovery Office New Orleans, LA FEMA: Week in Review Calendar Feb. 23-25: 88th Annual Police Jury Association of Louisiana Convention, Houma,La. March 23-24: Louisiana State Citizen Corps Conference, Pontchartrain Convention Center, Kenner, La. February 24, 2012 Announcements “2012 State of FEMA” – Presented on February 13, 2012 A Message from Administrator Fugate and Deputy Administrator Serino: In 2011, together with our partners across the whole community, we responded to a record setting year of disasters, provided assistance to help communities all over the Nation with our grant programs, and helped lead the way toward a National Preparedness Goal—a national vision of preparedness for how the nation will work together to approach our shared risk. Today we would like to present you with the 2012 State of FEMA report. For the first time, FEMA has captured the highlights of our accomplishments for the year, laid out who we are and provided a vision for where we are going. The 2012 State of FEMA report also shows how utilizing the “whole community” has allowed us to collaborate with our partners to better prepare for, protect against, respond to, recover from and mitigate all hazards. We hope that as you read through the document you will also see that we have put a premium on maximizing the value of the appropriations Congress has provided and that, through effective planning and execution, we have been good stewards of taxpayers’ dollars. The 2012 State of FEMA report tells just a portion of our story. It also shows us how much more there is to do. With the support of Congress and the continued dedication of the emergency management community, we feel confident that we will continue to grow, improve and serve our Nation proudly. FEMA’s CORE Values .. Compassion: FEMA personnel apply these values in dealing with coworkers, response partners, and non-disaster customers. ..
