Participants will receive information regarding potential disaster contracting requirements, registering with the Central Contractor Registration (CCR), and how to respond to notices for federal opportunities. Click on the Quake Quiz below: Calendar Louisiana Hosts First Annual International Disaster Management Expo The first ever International Disaster Conference and Exposition was held at The New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center on Jan. 17-19, 2012. The inaugu-ral event brought together representatives from both the public and private sectors to build relationships and discuss current issues related to disaster preparation, re-sponse, recovery and mitigation. Attendees had an opportunity to learn about many of the latest resources available to help them prepare for and respond to disaster situa-tions. Participants were also able to converse with other emergency managers about the chal-lenges and lessons learned from recent events in an environment that encourages progressive and creative thought, ultimately using this infor-mation to help shape future policies and proce-dures in planning for catastrophic events. Speakers included FEMA Director Craig Fugate, Ridge Global CEO Tom Ridge (First Director of DHS), Deputy Director of Emergency Manage-ment with GOHSEP the Louisiana Pat Santos, and retired Lt. Gen. Russel L. Honoré. Over 1600 individuals representing 26 countries attended the conference. Approxi-mately 170 companies and organizations participated in the exposition, including FEMA’s Louisiana Recovery Office. Conference organizers expect the IDCE to be-come an annual event in New Orleans, making the city one of the premier destina-tions for emergency management professionals to gather. FEMA Administrator Craig Fugate, guest speaker for the IDCE, urges emergency managers and members of the private sector to work collaboratively in disas-ter planning and response.
