What is the purpose of FY 2009 OPSG-S? 
The purpose of FY 2009 OPSG-S is to provide funding to designated localities to enhance 
cooperation and coordination between federal, state, local and tribal law enforcement 
agencies in a joint mission to secure the United States Southwest Border.

How much funding was available under FY 2009 OPSG-S? 
The total amount of funds distributed under FY 2009 OPSG-S is $30,000,000.

Eligible applicants under FY 2009 OPSG-S include the State Administrative Agency (SAA) 
within the four (4) Southwest Border States on behalf of 29 county and tribal-level recipients 
of FY 2009 OPSG awards.

How were FY 2009 OPSG-S allocations determined? 
FY 2009 OPSG-S funds were allocated competitively to designated localities within U.S. 
Southwest Border States, using a combination of the results of the risk analysis and the 
feasibility of the Operations Orders from the original Operation Stonegarden applications.

The Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2009 (Public Law 111-32) provided funding for this 
program.

7. What is the period of performance for FY 2009 OPSG-S? 
The period of performance of this grant program is 36 months. Extensions to the period of 
performance will be considered only through formal requests to FEMA with specific and 
compelling justification why an extension is required.
