What is the purpose of the FY 2010 Driver’s License Security Grant Program (DLSGP)? The purpose of the FY 2010 DLSGP is to prevent terrorism, reduce fraud and improve the reliability and accuracy of identification documents that state governments issue. DLSGP funds are intended to assist states and territories improve the integrity and security of their driver’s license and identification card processes, information systems, facilities and personnel identity information capabilities. 2. How much funding is available under the FY 2010 DLSGP? The total amount of funds to be distributed under the FY 2010 DLSGP is $48 million. 3. What is the priority for the FY 2010 DLSGP? The priority of the FY 2010 DLSGP is to continue supporting states and territories in improving the integrity and security of state-issued driver’s licenses (DL) and identification cards (ID) for security and issuance capabilities. 4. Who was eligible to apply for FY 2010 DLSGP funds? Eligible applicants under the FY 2010 DLSGP were state driver’s license agencies (DLA), also known as State Departments of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or Motor Vehicle Administrations (MVA). Other eligible applicants included State Public Safety Agencies or Departments with overall responsibility for drivers’ license issuance in the state. These agencies could have applied on behalf of the state DMV/MVA. 5. How were the FY 2010 DLSGP awards determined? All states and territories that applied for FY 2010 DLSGP will receive a base amount with the balance of funds distributed based on the total number of drivers licenses and identification cards (DL/IDs) issued in each state. 6.
