Five -Year NIMS Training Plan and Fiscal Year 2009 NIMS Implementation 

In February 2008, the FEMA National Integration Center’s Incident Management System 
Integration (IMSI) Division released the Five-Year NIMS Training Plan. This document defines 
NIMS core competencies, training courses, and personnel qualifications. 

The intent of this NIMS Alert is to clarify the requirement of training courses available during 
Fiscal Year 2009. Emergency Management Framework Course – Awareness Training is, as of 
yet, unavailable to NIMS stakeholders through the Independent Study website. Due to this lack of 
availability IMSI is removing the course from this fiscal year’s NIMS training requisites.
