I came across your website by accident. Truly a lovely collection of photos with music. The barbarians were at the gate that day but we haven't let them in.

It is important to remember, and I don't think anyone will ever forget. The feeling I get from the media is that people will forget, but one year is not enough time to let this feeling pass from recent memory. The media said they would limit, and be sparing of scenes such as the planes crashing into the towers. It was too much to handle, too sensationalistic.

I live in Canada, and watched reports Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, and by Tuesday night, I couldn't do it anymore. It was too much to bare, I felt like I had walked a thousand miles with this cross on my back, and I needed to put it down, for I was dehydrated and overcome with emotion. On September 11, I got together with my best friend for supper and we rented a DVD, and it was not about war. I did not turn on the TV or the radio.

Angus Beaton, from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, once read a quote at a memorial service, that I hold close to home. Don't think of death and blowing out the candles, think of it as turning down the lamp, for the dawn of Christ has come.

I have been in EMS since 1980. Each time I leave on a call my daughters say "be careful Mom".

The USA and World found in a tragic way what emergency services families have known for years...when we go out on a call we may not return.

Thank you for the poignant Remembrance Gallery - anybody who can view this and not shed tears isn't quite human.

Sept 11, 2001 to Sept 11, 2002 Civilization Survived

On that Darkest of Days last year an evil force tried to destroy civilization. The act killed thousands and destroyed buildings and hurt the economy of the world but civilization did not crumble. One year later and civilization has survived. Those who wanted to throw the world back into the dark ages failed.

This is proven by the actions and resiliency of civilized people. Those who lost the most, their loved ones will never be the same but they are living on and are examples to us all. Civilization and civilized people show their greatness by even debating what we should do and how to combat these forces of evil and hatred.

The evil force used the name of God as it's battle cry. But they are lost, for God has blessed civilization and civilized people.
