I was moved to tears viewing the poignant pictures which reminded me just how fragile the world we live in is. It is hard to believe I was in NYC just one short year ago on a family vacation with my brother and daughter. We were blessed to go to the top of the WTC and see the splendor of NYC and surrounding area without incident and without ever thinking harm could come to us. It will be a family vacation I will never forget. We had just returned to Chicago on 9 September and still can remember the stunning news of the attack on the WTC just two short days later. My heart goes out to the countless lives which perished on that fateful day, to their families, friends, colleagues, and loved ones whose lives were forever altered; as were the lives of all Americans. I especially want to thank all the fire, police, military personnel, rescue workers and recovery personnel. They are a blessing to all Americans. I am a mere person compared to the selfless acts of heroism each one of you perform on any given day. I appreciated you before the attacks, however I am more indebted to you with each passing day, forever putting other lives above your own. If only all people had 1/100th of your compassion and humility what a difference the world would be! God Bless you all! Denise Thank you for sharing the experiences and the lessons. I grew up with a former POW who had spent 41 months of WWII in Japanese labor camps after the infamous "Death March" of Bataan. He never spoke of his experiences, hence, they were lost, never to be appreciated as: another account of personal sacrifice, another price paid for our freedom, but most importantly, another lesson to learn from. No one needs to speak now. We have all experienced this tragedy in some way. Most importantly, the lessons are there for anyone who has the wisdom to see them, the courage to deal with them, and the intelligence to prevent them. Thanks again. Neil I would like to extend my heartfelt sympathy to the families and friends of those who died and for the people who continue to find ways to cope with the loss and tragedy of 9/11/01. To the rescue workers, the volunteers and the people who served in their own special way, I commend you for your hard work and sacrifices. I am a foreigner who does not consider myself not just a citizen of my native country nor a citizen of the US but a citizen of the world. It doesn't matter who you are, what color your skin is, what your religion is for when it comes to tragedy we all feel the pain, we all feel the anguish, we all are human. To the leaders of the world, I ask of you to make the right decisions that will ultimately affect the future of the world. Let the loss of 9/11 bring us to realization that war does not solve our problems. May the world leaders find ways to solve issues peacefully in honor of those who have perished in 9/11, no more innocent lives lost and no more families suffering from the grief brought by such tragedy. To every citizen of the world, that we do our part to make a difference in making sure that peace will prosper. September 11, 2002 Patriotism lives on. Our small city (6,300 pop.) had a beautiful program today (9-11-02), conducted by: City Officials, Religious Leaders, American Legion, VFW, Public Safety, Volunteer Firemen, High School Students, Grade School Students, High School ROTC Cadets, Men's Chorus, Individual Singers and Musicians. The program lasted about an hour and was very moving to me. Bodes well for the future of America. Blaise Your tribute is touching. My heart has so much to say but there are no words to adequately express it. 9-11-01 will be with us always.
