I just had to thank you for making these pictures public. As sad as they are they are the most beautiful pictures I have ever seen. They show real people showing not only love for the people who died but for all of us who live on to honor and cherish our country. There aren't enough words to truly describe these men and women but Heroes seems to always come to mind. Thank You is not enough to say to them but I'll say it anyway!

I look back on my childhood at the ages of my children and I do not remember having the fears that I see them with at this time in their lives. They do not look up at the sky to see a plane and wonder at how cool it is but they look up to the sky in fear at what ifs. They were afraid to go to school the morning after and they were afraid also one year later. My youngest said to me this morning mom I do not want to go to school today what if we do not come home together today. All I could say was if we do not come home today to this house we will all go to a better home. I pray that the families have comfort this day.

While reading a comment from Melissa (Lexington, Kentucky), it was if I was reading my own thoughts. I felt exactly like Melissa...the statement "We weren't worried about terrorists...". However, one would think I might be a little more apprehensive, for I was a block away in the Oklahoma City bombing. I think, especially since I lived through that, it was even more unbelievable when I witnessed the unfolding of the attack on the World Trade Center.

After Oklahoma, for some reason, in my mind, I thought that would be the end of terrorism that I would see in my lifetime. I'm 37 years old, I guess I was just too naive to think it could happen twice in one's lifetime....my gosh, it's the 21st Century! Unfortunately, that was not the case. I didn't believe that my heart could possibly hurt more, than it has hurt for the individuals lost in the attack, and the surviving families of those lost.

On September 11 of last year, my "little brother" turned 30. I remember him calling me and his comments of disbelief over the world "falling apart"...and that it wouldn't ever be a birthday he'd ever forget. I lost my little brother the following February. So I grieve for two reasons...for the many, many people lost that day at the WTC, and for the birthday's my little brother, as well as the WTC victims, will no longer have. 911 is a day that none of us will ever forget in our lifetime. God Bless each and every one of us and GOD BLESS THE USA.

My countrymen:

America is a nation that has suffered through the grim reality of the terrorist attacks on September 11th, but we refuse to be defined by this tragedy. What truly inspires me is the ability of our citizens to celebrate the Spirit of Human Endeavor as exhibited on the various tributes today. I am truly proud to be a American today.

Regards.
