On September 11, 2001 I woke up not feeling well. I decided I would stay home and try to recuperate. Little did I know that what I was about to witness was going to make me feel worse that I have ever and hope to ever feel again in my life! I had the TV on and was lying in bed...kind of dozing on and off. All of a sudden I set up with a jolt and saw Matt Lauer and Katie Couric talking about a plane crashing into one of the Twin Towers. I set there and saw that other jet fly into the 2nd Tower. I was stunned. I could not believe what I was seeing. I immediately called my Mother. Yes, she was watching too. I was 49 years old at the time that this happened, but my immediate reaction was that I needed my Mom. As a good and loving Mother that she is, she tried to console me and reassure me that everything was going to be okay. After talking to her, I called both of my children to tell them how much they mean to me and how much I love them. I think in my heart, I was also doing this for the children, Mothers and Fathers who were not going to be able to have that moment with their loved ones. To this day and for the rest of my days, my heart will ache for those lost in this terrible act of terrorism. But I also know that they are in a better place and are at peace.

I also have such great pride in the men and women who were in the rescue efforts. God has truly blessed you and because of that, you have touched each and every one of our lives. Thank you for all you have done and continue to do everyday of your life.

Our lives and America has changed forever. I only hope that we have become a stronger Country and realize that we are not infallible. I hope that we have become stronger in our faiths. Maybe we know, now, that our family and country are what is important to our lives.....our eyes and our hearts are focused on the here and now. Love and support your family and your country with all your heart and soul.

GOD BLESS AMERICA AND HER FAMILIES!

My heart is filled with sadness for those that perished in the September 11 attacks on our country, pride for those who gave and risked their lives while trying to save others, and for our nation that refuses to "Bend" at the knees to those that seek to take away our freedom.

One year later, I am still so very moved by the sadness of this terrible act of cowardice. I grieve for the families and the lives of those who were lost. My eyes well with tears and my heart is heavy for all the lives cut short so needlessly. I want to thank those firefighters and policemen who risked and gave their lives trying to save others and all of those who helped during the cleanup process.

Even though the rest of the nation could only watch in sorrow, we were and are filled with pride for those of you who have made the commitment to help keep this nation safe and strong. Thank God for all of you and for our brave military who spend many months away from home fighting to keep this country free. I am humbled by the courage and honor of all of you!

I pledge allegiance, to the flag, of the United States of America. And to the republic for which it stands, one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Never in my life did these words have as much meaning to me as they have over the past year. I am still in disbelief over the senseless acts of hatred that human beings can perpetrate on one another. I hope for a day when people can see fit to live their own lives without feeling that sort of hatred, or worrying about the next person not believing in "their God". I am filled with an immense amount of pride in knowing that there were so many people joining together to keep our country strong, to clean up the mess, and to remember that horrible day.

I am proud to be an American. I am proud of our country. I am thankful that every day I have happiness and joy in my heart which sees me through. I am thankful that I live in a country where we have the freedom to express ourselves. I am thankful to the men, women and children who perished on that tragic day one year ago who taught me that our freedom can not be taken for granted.

I will never forget. God Bless America!

Thank you so much. It was very inspirational and most needed in times like this. My thoughts are: such a beautiful day (again) with MUCH heartache and despair.

We will always remember.
