We must always remember those who died on 9/11. We must go on with our lives, but we must be aware of what is going on around us. Sept. 11 2001 will always be remembered as a day of sadness, grief, and loss of innocence. We must not let the world see us as a nation divided, but as a nation united "one for all,all for one". We can't let those cowards, defeat our resolve to get through this terrible time. GOD BLESS AMERICA AND OUR ALLIES.

As I look back over the past year so many thoughts come rushing over me. Today is September 10-02, last year today was no big deal...just another day. As I headed off to work I never imagined it would be the last "normal" day that I would have in a long time. Tomorrow is Sept 11th or 9/11 rather and it is so difficult to think that so much of our day to day routine has been touched by the events on this day one year ago. I can hardly believe that it's been a whole year already.

September 11, 2001 would be a day that would change America forever. Our very freedom would be challenged, our lives would be changed forever, and our nation would be shaken by terror.

The morning of 9/11/01 will be forever burned into all of our memories. I was sitting on the couch folding laundry watching Good Morning America, paying only half attention, I looked up at the television for just a second and saw the smoke billowing out of the first tower and thought to myself, "what kind of morbid movie is this?" Then just as I realized that it was live television and not a movie preview...I along with millions of other terror stricken Americans watched as the second plane smashed into the side of the second tower. It almost felt like a dream, like there was no way this could actually be happening.

Here I was hundreds of miles from NY (in Morton, IL) but I felt as scared as all those people on television looked, as I watched then run in horror away from the WTC area. But it seemed that no matter how horrified I was or what else I could be doing I couldn't tear myself away from the news. I felt that not knowing is what started this whole mess and couldn't bear to think of being without knowledge anymore. I wanted to know every detail of information that was being released.

Over the next few days I collected several newspapers to save as a sort of keepsake from the tragic events of 9/11, I hung an American flag in my window. I lit candles and made little ribbons of red, white and blue and wore them every second of the day.

Still a year later, I watch carefully when I see a airplane flying over the city and when I flew to Las Vegas in February I welcomed the extra security with such relief. I thought I would be scared to fly but really I felt more safe than ever in the airport.

I am so proud to be an American and I still feel such a sense of pride and togetherness, even with perfect strangers. But I don't think I will ever be able to understand how anyone could hate America with such an evil passion, but then again will anyone?

I think we are all survivors and I think the real heroes are all those who perished on that tragic day 9/11/01. May God be with you every step of your journey, may his love keep you strong and may his hand shield you from evil.

God Bless America!!! We shall stand united and indivisible one nation under God...and we shall not fade into the night but shine through even the darkest nights and rise with more strength and pride than each day before.

Tomorrow will be a day for all to reflect and honor those who so bravely gave their lives. To those families who lost loved ones, my sincerest sympathy and please know that you will not be alone nor will their memory be forgotten. To the brave firefighters and police and all others who so valiantly helped, I thank you, and you are all, indeed, in my prayers.

I feel there will never be justice for what was done to our country and our people. One year later I still feel very angry and sad. I pray for the few survivors and all those who lost a loved one, may you someday find peace....

Even though I have never been to NYC, Washington DC or Shanksville, PA they are all cities in America. For all people directly affected by this horrible tragedy please know that all of us across the nation felt and still feel your pain. I have cried many tears for those who lost their lives and their surviving friends and family. I have cried many tears for those who did survive who have to live with the utter horror of what they experienced and witnessed. Good does prevail over evil - may God give all us -- especially those directly affected by the tragedy -- the strength and courage to move on and return to a peace within ourselves that allows us to be happy and free American people. GOD BLESS AMERICA - THE LAND OF THE FREE!!!!!!!!!
