It was/is an extremely sensitive history of such an evil act. Jan & Peter As I watched TV that early morning a year ago tears stung my eyes and a lump the size of an apple formed in my throat. As I watched the first tower burning...the only thing that I could think of was extreme sadness at the loss of life that I was witnessing. Then as another plane hit the second tower my sadness turned to fear. The realization hit hard that we were being attacked. The news of the Pentagon, the plane in Pennsylvania...who would have believed that anyone or any country could do such a thing? I never believed that I would live to see the day that we would be attacked on our own soil. In a way, I am glad that I lived to see it...it gave me the opportunity to see just how strong this great nation is when it comes to what happens here. The feelings reminded me of when I was young...I have 2 sisters and a brother. When growing up I would "pick" on my siblings, just as they would "pick" on me. But just let someone outside this little circle "pick" and all hell would break loose. I would defend them to the very end...with every fiber of my being, just as they would do for me. That is the way my feelings turned that day...someone "picked" on my family...my American family (though I knew no one involved). I felt as though my family was being attacked. Sure, we have our problems here in America but when push comes to shove we stick together!! That makes me so very proud to be an American!! I did all I could do to help. I prayed for the souls of those that left us that day...I prayed for the families they left behind...I prayed for our leaders to have the wisdom to do the right thing. I put money into the stock market for the first time in my 49 years. I gave blood...donated food, clothing and money. All these things seem so small, but so many doing the same thing helped and with God's help we have come through this a stronger nation. We must all keep our heads high and show the world what we are made of!! GOD BLESS AMERICANS AND THIS GREAT COUNTRY WE WERE BLESSED TO BE A PART OF!! Laurie This is a beautiful collection of photos. Thank you for sharing these. Nathalie One Year later. God Bless America. Let's take action so this will never happen again. Let's Roll Sandy To this day I still find it hard to believe this really happened, I can see the pictures, I can talk to friends, I can watch it on the evening news and it still seems like it's not real. I as well as many Americans have friends and loved ones that were touched by this terrible event, and as we go about our daily lives we can not and will not ever forget 9-11. It's now part of history that no one wants and no one asked for but all the same its our history, We have to live, laugh and love again, just as we did before this terrible tragedy, Anything less will only allow the terrorist to proclaim this a victory. I'm old enough to remember the Vietnam war, watching my older brother and his friends going to war. I remember the day President Kennedy was shot, the day the Challenger went down, I can remember the first attack on the World Trade Center,as well as others that bring pain and heartache to us.... but we made it past those tragedies and we shall make it though this. I hope and pray we can all remember to love one another, stand beside each other as if a total stranger was your best friend. Love and comfort your neighbor as if they were your brother or sister. Say a prayer every day and night for who we have and who we have lost. And always remember to say a special prayer for our Firefighters, Police & MET and all the other people who gave so much in a terrible time of need. We are Americans, We are the proudest people, The proudest Country and We are Survivors.
