It is difficult to believe one year has passed since America was attacked; not just in Washington, DC, Pennsylvania, and New York, but our nation as a whole. We were a country of innocence until that horrific day. But only for a mere 24 hours was our innocence, sense of security, and freedom stripped from us. We are such an incredibly strong country. We did not succumb to the temporary setbacks the terrorists only hoped would permanently paralyze us.

One year ago at this time, I was living approximately one and a half miles from the Pentagon in Rosslyn. Today, I am further down south. Although I am no where near the sites of tragedy, I can still feel the immense pain in my heart. We may have cleaned up the disaster sites and rebuilt the walls of our country's most powerful building, but we will never be able to restore the lives lost. God bless everyone who perished on 9/11 and all of us who survived. May we all be safe as we proceed in life.

The prayers and good wishes of all that are around me go out to all the men and women and the canine forces as well that risk and gave their lives that sad day September morning.

FEMA did an AMAZING job on 9/11/01 and since then. It is certainly an organization that each New Yorker should be proud of, so much so that it is one organization that I would love to be a part of and to help my fellow New Yorkers get through some difficult times.

Please forward me information on how to join such a wonderful organization.

Thank you and regards.

It never ceases to amaze me how one event can so clearly affect the very fabric of a country. Previously, tragedies always happened "over there" or some place else that I could not relate to. Even though I was more than 2000 miles away on and after 9/11, a part of me died that day as well.

I have always been a quiet patriot, not wanting to seem weird because my favorite song has always been "The Star Spangled Banner." Now, I am deeply offended when someone doesn't take off their hat or put their hand over their heart during those appropriate moments. And, I don't mind telling the offender about it.

Faith, Hope, Love, Peace, Unity, Freedom and Remembrance will forever be more than just words to me.
