Every time I think of what happened that day I still get a tear to my eye. No matter what I do and where I am I see people who love this great country and New York. To all the families who have lost loved ones remember that others are lifting you up in prayer and that God always watches his children. To all the rescuers may God keep your hearts light and your minds at ease, you people have truly seen and been through a lot. To all the rescue dogs God made animals for a reason and we are truly blessed to have such wonderful gifts from heaven. Finally to all the people who looked on from their televisions or listened on the radio even though we could not be there we were in our mind and spirit. Continue to pray for 9-11-01. One day we will win the battle on terrorism and when we do there will be great rejoicing.

I looked at the photos taken by the FEMA photographers this day. I am still in shock of what took place on the eve of this tragic day in history. This tragedy on 9/11/01 has changed me personally in many ways. I am more humble than before. I am more giving than I was before. I am more aware of my surroundings and the many lives sacrificed for us to have our freedom.

When I think of what happened at Pearl Harbor, that December 7th day in 1941 was looked upon as the day day that America was invaded and our country will not stand by and let this consume us. Our freedom was violated and many sacrificed their lives for this freedom that we take for granted all too many times. But many of the people here in the United States do not realize the impact that happened on December 7th other than our elderly. What happened on September 11th will be remembered by this era of generations and for generations to come only because of what America did to rebuild and reunite with one another.

Lastly, I did not feel the total impact of 9/11 until I visited Canada on September 12th. Other than realizing what it now took to cross the border by a terrible delay in security, the way the Canadian people embraced my family and I showed me what other free nations felt about us because of the way America protects freedom as a whole. President Bush is correct in saying that terrorists may have struck the foundations of our tallest buildings but, terrorists have not struck the foundation of this country and its people! Thank you!

As I sit in the same chair that I occupied last Sept. 11, I remember watching the TV coverage of the World Trade Center buildings burning when I hear a loud bang and our building shaking. My first thought was "Oh my God, they're bombing us now." In few minutes, the announcement came that the Pentagon had been hit by a hijacked airplane. My office is just 4 miles from the Pentagon and I have friends that work there. The rest of the day was spent in quiet -- no phones ringing. It reminded me of the day the President Kennedy was shot and killed.

I have friends and family who have come to this country because it offered and continues to offer a better way of life but we must always be vigilant to protect our freedoms. There will always be ignorant people in the world that will use hate and prejudice to tear down things to which they have no knowledge. We must not let hate, prejudice and fear rule our lives so that we become the very thing that brought down the World Trade Center towers.

There hasn't been a day in the past 12 months when I haven't thought about what happened that day. I am not alone in that. Is it still okay to feel anger after this much time?

The attacks were beamed into our lounge rooms (only minutes after the first plane hit) on all 5 of our free-to-air TV stations for 3 days nonstop (beginning at peak time in the evening here).

We were very lucky: my sister's husband, Chris, was due for a meeting at 9AM that morning in the WTC. He was 3 blocks away walking to his appointment when it began. Subsequently, it took a long time for him to get back to Australia due to the flight restrictions.

For all of us who have experienced the attacks, even from afar, it is important to never forget this tragedy and to remember those who have innocently lost their lives.

Sadly, I feel that this is just the start of a long period of hardship. But not necessarily one of complete uncertainty. John Lennon, who would have been as horrified about the attacks on New York City as anyone, had us thinking that "War is Over". And just as I was starting to believe it was.

So many of us on the West Coast seem oblivious to 911 and it's meaning...maybe because it happened last year and maybe because it happened on the East Coast who knows...all I know is that it happened and no matter how long ago and how far away it happened...it still affects us as Americans...someone came into our country and took our right to live and be free away....I don't know about you...but I will forever be changed by 911.
