I was a senior in college at University of Missouri-Columbia on Sept 11, I remember it was a beautiful day and I was so excited for the fall to arrive. I was up earlier than usual, Tuesday was my one day to sleep in...It's so strange that I remember exactly where I was when Katie Couric and Matt Lauer broke in and said something had crashed into the World Trade Center. I was putting my shirt on. I was brushing my teeth when the second plane hit. I called my Mom and we cried together, I also called my Dad to make sure he didn't have people out on the east coast. (He works for Boeing) I wanted to be around people, to reach out and hug someone, I went to work and on my way in I heard the Pentagon had been hit. I was so scared planes were going to start falling out of the sky. By the time I was walking in the building, people were asking me why I looked so mad. I told two men who were delivering uniforms to the building, they were in shock and I remember saying "Don't worry, we won't give up, we'll get who did this" At that moment, I felt strong and realized the pride I have as an American. Later, when my roommate and I went to get black ribbons, we were shocked to find the store was out of ribbon. We made ours of electrical tape and hung a flag from our apartment window. Campus came together in a show of support and love, I'm so proud to be an American. I sing the National Anthem with pride and say the pledge with my hand over my heart. We will survive, we are strong and united! Missouri sends their strength and love, we are behind you 100%!

The Remembrance Gallery Photos gives a better, more "realistic" prospective of 911 than many I have seen. I plan to honor it by not watching media coverage, or tuning into the countless hours of replayed videos. I have seen, I have grieved, I remember as clear as if it were yesterday. I imagine I'll be very quiet, almost as speechless as I was that day, and remember the proud, the innocent, and the honorable, by simply reflecting w/ my own thoughts and memories. Thank-you to all who made me even more proud than I already was to call myself an American.

All the pictures are moving but the one that impressed me most was the one by A. Booher with the sun streaming thru the dust over wreckage of the WTC. To me, this represented many, many crosses joined together as one. As the people who were never found are now joined together as one. This is comforting to know they are together in death supporting each other.

Thank you for sharing these photos

I realize how valuable the firemen in NY were to the cause of WTC. I feel that the people on Flight 93 who knowing gave their life so that another valuable spot in the US could saved, have not had enough credit given to them by this country. Lay down your life so that others might live comes to mind. How could we as a nation ever repay this courageous set of crew and passages.

I could not have written it any better than the one from Panama City, FL (C.M.). I too remember that day and how warm the weather was here in Jacksonville. My mind at times still has a hard time understanding what really transpired that moment in time and how this event changed not just me but it seems a lot of people.

Now I find myself thanking those in uniform for their courage, strength and nobility. I love you too America!!
