For a brief moment my
heart is saddened once again by the tragic and senseless loss of life
a year ago but, at the same time I have hope and a calm feeling of reassurance
that America will go on, that we will heal and become stronger in our
resolve to rid the world of terrorism. Sharon Like most Americans I can remember exactly where I was when I saw the 2nd tower hit. My Wife and I were in a campground in West Yellowstone, Montana. As we had cable TV we watched for quite a while before going back into the Park. It seemed unreal in the most beautiful of places. We talked with people and we were among the very few that saw what happened as there we no TV stations in the area and the hotel in the park has no TV's. It was word of mouth. Having been born in 1934 I have seen a lot happen in my lifetime. I certainly hope that accurate historical material is maintained so that those in the future can know exactly what happened. There is little need to try to 2nd guess what happened or make anything more of it. It was a senseless cold blooded attack that cost many lives. It certainly wasn't the first and most certainly won't be the last. Every day news items appear that show this. Charles In all that has happened and all that has been said and done. My thoughts are that instead of building the WTC in a much smaller size, I think it should be built exactly as it was before 9/11. If we alter the building in any way, we are letting the terrorists win. They will think that we are scared and that means they have succeeded. In any tribute that would say "Hey look at us!" we remember, we have recovered, and we stand TALL again. Cathlene I'm amazed at the magnitude of hatred in this world that greatly impacted innocent lives, both directly and indirectly. I'm amazed at the extent of the damage caused by this hatred. I'm amazed that two immense towers can be reduced to piles of rubble, that, while large, don't seem to be as large as the towers were. I'm amazed that the impenetrable fortress that is the Pentagon, a bastion of safety, is not immune from hatred. I'm amazed at the heroism of the passengers of Flight 93, who, in trying to save their own lives, possibly saved the lives of hundreds or thousands of people, and the security of our nation. I'm amazed at the drive and love of the rescue workers, the coworkers and the military people who tried to save others while putting their own lives at risk. I'm amazed at the dignity of the rescue workers at the WTC and the Pentagon who worked tirelessly in trying to give dignity back to those lost and to those still alive mourning those lost. I'm amazed at how close to the surface the pain still is. I'm amazed at the resiliency of the American spirit. Let's remember. Let's never forget. Let's continue to live. And, let's always be amazed. Roberta "These colors don't run!" Thank you so much for that moving photo tribute to the courage and strength of Americans displayed beginning on 9-11-01. It helps us remember how immediate and significant the recovery began and how our people came together to become a stronger nation. God Bless America!!
