Residents of Carbon, Park and Stillwater counties who applied for disaster assistance from FEMA after experiencing losses in June’s flooding may be referred to the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) to apply for a low-interest disaster loan. It is important to submit the loan application as soon as possible.

Residents of Carbon, Park and Stillwater counties who were affected by June’s severe flooding should be aware that con artists and criminals may try to obtain money or steal personal information through fraud or identity theft after a disaster. In some cases, thieves try to apply for Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) assistance using names, addresses and Social Security numbers stolen from survivors.

Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) specialists are working in areas impacted by the June 2022 flooding to help disaster survivors in the affected counties apply for FEMA assistance as well as provide information about resources.

FEMA has approved $11 million in additional Public Assistance funding for the COVID-19 response in Utah. The assistance was made available under a major disaster declaration issued April 4, 2020. FEMA has now provided more than $295 million for the Utah COVID-19 response with this additional funding.

Locations to apply for FEMA assistance will soon be opening in several counties affected by flooding. FEMA will open both Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) and Mobile Registration Intake Centers (MRICs) across Carbon, Park, and Stillwater counties. All locations can help homeowners, renters, and business owners who were affected by June’s severe flooding.
