Environmental Requirements to Apply for FEMA Funding

When a community applies for FEMA funding — such as Public Assistance, Hazard Mitigation Assistance or Preparedness Grants — potential impacts to the environment and cultural resources must be considered.

Risk Mapping, Assessment and Planning (Risk MAP) is a national FEMA program that works with states, tribes, territories and local communities to evaluate and better understand their current flood risk, as well as the actions that can be taken to mitigate and become more resilient against future risk.

FEMA’s Chief Component Procurement Officer and FEMA Region 9 are facilitating a webinar for businesses in American Samoa, Arizona, California, Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands, Hawai’i, Guam, Nevada, and the Republic of Marshall Islands Federated States of Micronesia that want to learn how to do business with FEMA. The webinar will review FEMA’s small business program, category management, contracting, regional coordination, and include presentations from FEMA, the U.S. Small Business Administration and Minority Business Development Agency.

FEMA is hiring Hawaiʻi residents to support the Maui wildfire recovery effort. Jobs are available on Oʻahu and Maui. Qualified candidates with diverse backgrounds and a desire to serve are needed immediately. These temporary positions start as 120-day appointments and may be extended up to one year depending on the needs of the recovery mission. Benefits include sick leave and up to 11 paid holidays.
