Case Studies: Austin, Texas Conducts FIT-Based Watershed Flood Study
Austin, Texas conducted a study with a database property values by parcel, finished floor elevation, and flood depth information generated by HAZUS to calculate the amount of flooding from local streams and where it would occur within the 16 watersheds in the area.
The city also used HAZUS to analyze flood damage along Lower Waller Creek and was able to conclude that the majority of damage was to high-valve buildings that had low finished floor elevations.
