What should I do if I get an error while installing the SQL Server 2005 Express SP2 setup on a computer with Windows XP SP3?
If HAZUS-MH is installed on a computer that has the Windows XP SP3 operating system, the installation might fail and produce the following Microsoft error:
This error occurs when installing SQL Server 2005 Express SP2 on the Windows XP SP3 platform that includes MSXML6 SP2 as part of its installation. SQL Server 2005 Express SP2 attempts to install an older version of MSXML (6.0 parser) which is incompatible with the newer version.
To resolve this issue, uninstall MSXML6 SP2 by downloading and using the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility.
If HAZUS-MH MR3 is already installed on Windows XP SP2, update the operating system to Windows XP SP3 and then install MR3 Patch3, which should occur without any problems.
The MSXML error also will occur with SQL Server 2005 Express SP3 and the solution is the same.
