How can I cut down the time required for a complete Flood Model analysis?
The HAZUS Flood Model will run faster on a dedicated, completely clean computer with only HAZUS and the Windows and ArcGIS programs required for HAZUS operation. The computer should not have other programs indicated in the program menu or in the bottom tool bar. Also, no problems such as virus checking or messaging should be running in the background. Your Internet program should be open only when downloading USGS DEM data. As an example of the time required for a complete analysis, a flood study for the State of Maryland conducted in 2005 for the state's entire counties were run from start to finish in 24 hours using this method.
