HAZUS-MH FAQs: Flood Model Operation and Analysis

I ran a stream network function for my study region but it does not completely correspond with a map layer of streams I already have. Is it possible to add my own steam network and use it in the Flood Model?

No. The stream network developed by the Flood Model is used for several purposes:

Applying a user-supplied stream network might improve stream locations but would cause problems in the model due to the absence of stream attributes and associated grids. The best way to improve the stream network delineated in HAZUS is to use a DEM with greater accuracy and/or resolution than the default NED.

For additional information, the HAZUS Flood User Manuals and guidance materials are available for download from the HAZUS Resources on this site.
