HAZUS-MH MR3 FAQs: Flood Model Inventory and Data Collection

Can I use GIS files saved under different projection systems?

HAZUS requires that the inventory be saved in the geographic, HAZUS-MH standard North American Datum 1983 coordinate system (GCS_North_American_1983 ). Note that a few Flood Model specific datasets are stored in different projected coordinate systems, such as Albers (GCS_Clarke_1866) or Albers Conical Equal Area (NAD_1983_Albers ). You can, however, use ArcTooloxTM to modify the projection of your GIS file to conform the HAZUS requirement.

For additional information, the HAZUS User's Manuals and guidance materials are available for download from the HAZUS Resources on this site.
