HAZUS-MH FAQs: Flood Model Inventory and Data Collection

Can I use GIS files saved under different projection systems?

HAZUS requires that the inventory be saved in the geographic, HAZUS-MH standard North American Datum 1983 coordinate system (GCS_North_American_1983). Note that a few Flood Model specific datasets are stored in different projected coordinate systems, such as Albers (GCS_Clarke_1866) or Albers Conical Equal Area (NAD_1983_Albers). You can, however, use ArcToolboxTM to modify the projection of your GIS reference file(s) to conform the HAZUS rinventory data equirement (GCS_North_American_1983).

For additional information, the HAZUS User Manuals and guidance materials are available for download from the HAZUS Resources  on this site.
