Is it possible to use units smaller than census tracts (e.g., census blocks) for a HAZUS earthquake loss estimation analysis?
The census tract is the smallest unit that the HAZUS Earthquake Model can deal with normally. However, the HAZUS open architecture allows sophisticated users to modify appropriate files in order to permit analysis by census block or grid cell.
For additional information, see the HAZUS Earthquake Technical Manual HAZUS Earthquake Technical Manual as well as other other HAZUS Manuals and guidance materials available for download from HAZUS Resources on this site.
