Ground motion is defined as ground shaking and ground failure.
For ground shaking, you need to prepare four files in Geodatabase format. The values for each of these files need to be stored in a column named "ParamValue" (Decimal).
For ground failure, you need to provide maps for three types of ground failure considered:
To use a ground failure map for one type, you must provide all the maps required for that type of failure. For example, for liquefaction, you need to provide a map for PGD due to settlement, a map for PGD due to lateral spreading, and a probability map.
The name and location of each of these files are flexible and user-defined. To provide the location of the user defined maps, select the Data Maps option under the Hazard main menu. See Appendix J and Appendix K of the HAZUS Users Manual for instructions on how to convert shape-file-based hazard maps to the corresponding GeoDatabases-based hazard maps that can be used with HAZUS.
To include the maps in the analysis, in the Scenario Wizard:
1. Select the option Hazard | Scenario under the main menu.
2. Activate the Define a new scenario button and press Next.
3. Activate the User-supplied hazard option and press Next.
4. Define the maps to be used in the analysis.
For additional information, refer to the HAZUS Manuals and guidance materials available for download from the HAZUS Resources.
