Description of Duties:
- Oversees the National Flood Insurance Program, the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program, and other initiatives aimed at eliminating or reducing risks communities face from natural and man-made disasters
- Administers the following nationwide, risk-reduction programs and Congressionally-authorized efforts:
- The National Flood Insurance Program
- The National Dam Safety Program
- The National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program
- The National Hurricane Program
- The Hazard Mitigation Grant Program
- Flood Mitigation Assistance Program, and
- Pre-Disaster Mitigation authorized by the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000
