Guidelines for Determining Flood Hazards on Alluvial Fans

FEMA issued Guidelines for Determining Flood Hazards on Alluvial Fans in February 2000 to address recommendations in a report by the National Research Council Committee on Alluvial Fan Flooding. The 22-page document provides guidance for the identification and mapping of flood hazards occurring on alluvial fans, regardless of the level of fan forming activity, including active and inactive alluvial fan flooding.

This guidance document was subsequently included in and superseded by the February 2002 version of Guidelines and Specifications for Flood Hazard Mapping Partners. To view the current version of Guidelines and Specifications for Flood Hazard Mapping Partners, dated April 2003, click here.
