Pilot Communities and Case Studies

FEMA has conducted seven HWM Projects around the U.S.; five of which were pilots conducted from 2012-2013.The most recent two HWM Projects were completed in 2014 by Santa Rosa County, FL and San Anselmo, CA. Both community-led projects involved planning HWM Launch events and implementing long-term mitigation actions to build resilience against future flooding.

Case studies for all communities can be found online. The audience for this page includes local officials, emergency management personnel, community leaders as well as FEMA Regions, Federal, state, and local entities who are interested in raising flood risk awareness and committing to long-term actions to raise resilience in communities around the United States.
